Massachusetts Superior Court Rule 26: Motions for Judgment Notwithstanding the Verdict and for New Trial; Hearing; Costs.

Motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict and for a new trial shall specify the grounds thereof.

A motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict shall be served within the time provided in Mass. R. Civ. P. 50(b) and a motion for new trial shall be served within the times provided in Mass. R. Civ. P. 59(b) or Mass. R. Civ. P. 50(c)(2). Any such motion shall be served, filed and adjudicated as provided in Rule 9A of the Rules of the Superior Court.

No Hearing is required except as provided in Mass. R. Civ. P. 59(d).
